Google Business Profile Management

For a local trade, this is often the most quoted thing you own, and most of them have not touched it in a year.

Setup, optimization and monthly management of the profile that decides whether you show up at all.

Your website is the surface you control most and the one that gets read least. The profile is the opposite. It is a structured record, it is already machine readable, and both Google and the AI systems built on top of it treat it as a statement of fact about your business.

Why this sits so early in the ladder

A profile is cheap to fix and expensive to ignore. Categories, service areas, hours and services are fields, not prose, which means a machine does not have to interpret them. When the profile and the website disagree about what you do or where you work, the disagreement is the problem, and the profile usually wins.

It is also the single most common place we find a contradiction during an audit. Not because anyone was careless, but because a profile is set up once, at the start, and then the business changes around it.

What setup and optimization covers

  • Primary and secondary categories chosen against what buyers actually search, not what sounds impressive
  • Service area set to the ground you genuinely cover, which matters more than setting it wide
  • Services and descriptions written in the words customers use, matching your website exactly
  • Hours, attributes, licensing and payment details completed rather than left blank
  • Photos that show real work, named and dated, because an empty gallery reads as an inactive business
  • Products and services structured so they can be lifted into an answer

What monthly management covers

  • Posts on a cadence you can sustain, tied to jobs you actually did
  • Questions and answers seeded and monitored, because that section is quoted more than people expect
  • Review responses written in your voice, including the awkward ones
  • Watching for the edits Google applies on its own, and the ones competitors suggest
  • Monthly reporting on calls, direction requests and what people searched to find you

The honest limit

A profile cannot rescue a business with no reviews and no recent work. It can make a good business legible, and it can stop a good business being invisible for reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the work. That is the trade, and it is a good one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a local business for this?

You need a real service area and a way to prove you serve it. If you work out of a home address or serve a region rather than a storefront, that is normal and it is set up differently, not excluded.

Can you fix a suspended profile?

Sometimes. It depends why it was suspended and what evidence exists. We will tell you honestly whether it looks recoverable before you pay for the attempt.

Is this separate from the audit?

The audit tells you whether the profile is your bottleneck. This is the work that follows if it is. Plenty of businesses find it is not their bottleneck, and we say so.

Do you need access to my account?

Yes, as a manager. You keep ownership. We will never ask you to transfer ownership of your own profile, and you should refuse anyone who does.

How long before anything changes?

Category and service-area corrections can move things within weeks. Reviews and posts compound over months. Anyone promising a fixed timeline has not looked at your category.
